Professor Sufian Hemed Bukurura – retired law professor, currently serves, on part-time basis, as a research associate of REPOA (an independent, non-profit organisation concerned with poverty and related policy issues in Tanzania). He was until very recently member of the Board of Directors of Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation – Tanzania’s national oil company. In addition, Bukurura has been Commissioner at the Law Reform Commission of Tanzania (2011-2017). Before that he was a full professor in the School of Law, University of Dar es Salaam. He has also taught in South Africa, at the University of South Africa (UNISA), in Pretoria, and the University of Kwazulu-Natal (UKZN), in Durban. Before that he taught at the University of Namibia (UNAM), the University of Swaziland (UNISWA) and the then Institute of Development Management (IDM), Mzumbe. Sufian Bukurura was trained as a lawyer at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). He later pursued further studies in England at the Universities of Warwick and Cambridge. He is a proud and self-confessed perpetual student in all matters social and developmental.
