Dr. Elifuraha Laltaika

Harvard Law School visiting scholar

Dr. Elifuraha Laltaika teaches Mining, Oil and Gas Law at Tumaini University Makumira Arusha, and recently served as a Harvard Law School visiting scholar to examine communities’ rights in the context of extractive industry in international and comparative legal perspectives. A Fulbright alumnus, he holds a Doctorate in Law from the University of Arizona, Masters of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Oregon, and LL.M from the University of Kwazulu Natal and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Dar-Es-Salaam. Dr. Laltaika’s publications examine the interface between human rights and extractive industries; environmental and natural resources law; indigenous peoples’ rights, human rights law and policy and public international law
